George Will Agrees and Articulates on "Palestine"

Why will there be no solution to the Mid-East crisis. Contrary to the anti-Semites or anti-Zionists, it's not because Israel refuses to bend over and allow itself to be destroyed, it's not because they want to destroy the Arab people and it's not because it an evil entity while "Palestine" is Shangri-La for everything good decent in this world and that would become evident if only Israel ceased to exist, it's because Israel won't unjustly give up land that rightfully belongs to them before even the advent of Islam (even though Ehud Barak tried and the "Palestinians" said no anyway) They won't give up their rightful land to a people that doesn't exist in a land that doesn't exist. Like I said in posts way back, there is no such thing as Palestine (and no such thing as Palestine-Part II)

This footage is old (I wish I had seen or known about it back then) but it still holds true now. Palestine was simply a name, a "geographical expression," as Will said, thought of by the Romans, it is not a reality. It never has been, never will be. No deal will be made as long as Israel exists. The "Palestinians" don't want peace unless Israel is "wiped off the map." In fact the "Palestinians don't want peace at all. The "Palestinians" would just seek more land that isn't theirs and start wars with other neighbors thinking if it worked with Israel, it would work with anyone.

I's not a matter of freeing "Palestine," it's a matter of freeing the truth.

Know it all Chris "Tingle" Matthews seems to have played the role of a "stupid Republican" in his guest-host spot on MSNBC's Andrea Mitchell Reports when he told former North Dakota governor John Hoeven that he "loved visiting your state this summer" and that he loves Mt. Rushmore, having "sat there for two hours and just looked up at it" during his trip to South Dakota over the summer. Hoeven had to remind the genius Matthews that Mt. Rushmore is in fact in South Dakota.

To be fair, anyone and everyone can make these geographical goofs once in a while (I myself playing Trivial Pursuit recently actually said that Mt. Everest was in the Rockies...don't ask) but since Matthews fancies himself the greatest mind in the geopolitical arena, mercilessly bashing Republicans like Michele Bachmann for gaffes like her having confused Concord, New Hampshire for Concord, Massachusetts or when she mistakenly claimed hat John Wayne was born in Waterloo, Iowa and at the same time not chastising President Obama for stating he "had been to 57 states," or that they actually speak German in Austria, corpsmen is pronounced "coremen" and not how it is actually spelled; Matthews hardly deserves fairness.

BSNBC Softball host Chris "Thrill Up My Leg" Matthews was on Washington's WMAL radio Morning Majority program this morning when he incredulously implied that he was objective. He stated that, "There's a real level of national hatred of the president that I hadn't seen before. Certainly not under Clinton or under Dubya," he told hosts Mary Katharine Ham and Bryan Nehman.
"The hatred, the Hitler mustaches, all that stuff, I haven't seen that before."
He also laughingly said that, "You guys have a point of view and I'm trying to look at this objectively."

This coming from the most bias of hosts that has in the past:

-Stated it was his "job" to ensure President Obama has a "successful presidency."

-Grossly misrepresented and never issued an outright correction about, the size of the federal government under Obama.

-Insisted Rick Santorum favors constructing a "theocracy" that would "trump" the Constitution.

-Conspiratorially posited that John Edwards's criminal indictment was right-wing "revenge."

-Bashed the Republican Party at-large as "anti-science" and "troglodyte."

One more thing. Did you happen to catch Henneberger's line about how the Speaker of the House commented on the State of the Union speech before even seeing it, as in not witnessing President Obama at the podium?
"...the president’s golfing buddy, Republican Speaker John Boehner, calling the State of the Union “pathetic” before even seeing it."

Does Henneberger not know that the Speaker receives a copy of the speech before it is publicly delivered? Apparently not. Just another reason to trash anything Republican from yet another ignorant, yet "expert" member of the Barack Obama fan club.

The ongoing race-baiting by the left never fails to both amuse and enrage me. How do you know they have no facts or are worried about losing and election or even a simple debate? Count how many times they pull the race card. The most egregious of course came from the laughable Sgt. Ed Schultz (and despicably ABC News as well) when he purposely tried to make Texas Governor and former presidential candidate Rick Perry look like a racist when he took Perry's "black cloud" (concerning the debt) comment totally out of context. Schultz did not apologize for attempting the smear Perry (he did give an empty apology for not using the whole quote) so BSNBC figured they can have another closet racist on to do it again. Although this time Salon's Joan Walsh said nothing new to come out of her pie-hole since she regularly plays the race card whenever given the chance; the BS brass decided to let her come on again in an attempt to play it more smoothly than the ol' sarge.

The target of her ire this time was Newt Gingrich since he appears to be back in the GOP primary race after winning in South Carolina. If he had lost or pulled out after coming in fourth in Iowa, his name would have never had been mentioned by Walsh or anyone on the BS network, even if it were true.
But since Gingrich is still very much alive in the hunt for the Republican nomination, it is everyone's job on the left to destroy him, regardless if he's electable or not. He is a Republican, therefore he must be stopped. And what better way to stop a right-winger if your a lefty? That's correct. The good ol' tried and true (meaning successful, of course) race card.

"We have a really interesting case study in the Republican Party in these two candidates," Walsh said. "Because Mitt is the candidate of vulture capitalism that hollowed out the middle class and represented and enriched the top one percent. But Newt is the face of the politics of resentment and racism and angry white male rage that let guys like Mitt do that to the economy."

And by the way, if the GOP are so open about their racism that they have to use "code words," what does that say about the party that proudly, yet apologetically had a KKK member in the Senate for 50 or so years? Anyone?

NYT Ignores Pro-Life March for Fifth Year in a Row

Liberal Media Continue to Lie and Cover for Obama

Not that I expected anything to change in the time I was away from this blog, but it really continues to amaze me how the liberal media will forever forgo the facts to save Barack Obama from losing his pathetic position as President of the United States.

In a recent GOP debate, Newt Gingrich called Barack Obama the "food stamp president." He said Obama is responsible for having the most people on food stamps than any president in history. This is absolutely true of course and as usual, the left can't handle the incompetence of their chosen one.

BSNBC's Martin Brashir and the biggest racist on the planet Al Sharpton for example have continued to mislead their tiny audiences. Brashir explicitly called Tea Party leader Judson Phillips a liar when Phillips reiterated Gingrich's factual claim on Monday. This is after he tried to label Gingrich a racist for saying anything negative about a black president of course.

As the segment began Bashir asked his guest why Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich is doing so well.

"He has appealed to the conservative base of the Party," replied Phillips. "Everything he has thrown out, it's been absolute red meat to the base."

"I'm sorry," interrupted Bashir. "Just on that specific point, Judson, you say he's thrown out red meat to the base. Do you include in that those barely concealed, racially-charged, divisive comments about the President being a Food Stamps President?"

"There's nothing racial about that," answered Phillips. "He is a Food Stamp president. He's brought in more people on food stamps than any other American president in history."

"That's actually untrue," barked Bashir. "George W. Bush had more people on food stamps, not this president. That's a lie."

It isn't, although Bashir, Sharpton and the rest of the left clearly wishes it were to the point of they themselves lying to their audiences. This report, from all places the left-leaning Huffington Post clearly shows that President Obama has indeed relegated the most people in history to the food stamp program (now known as the Supplemental Nutrional Assistance Program (SNAP).

So not only is Obama the "food stamp president," he is also the "unemployment president," the "deficit president" and let's not forget the "credit rating reducing president."

How the left-wing media continues to collectively suffer from Bush Derangement Syndrome is beyond me. Well, not really.

Sorry about the lack of posts in the last month or so. As I said earlier, I have been in a transition lately and haven't had an opportunity to keep a regular updated schedule. But I'm back and on job once again. Only don't expect anything really interesting or regular on the GOP primary front as none of the candidates excite me nor do I think any of them can beat Obama. Not because the incumbent is untouchable and really anybody should be able to hammer him on the economy and unemployment, but none of the Republicans running are conservative enough to light the fire under not only the base, but they aren't competent enough to garner enough independent votes needed to beat Dear Leader.

I hope I'm wrong.

Did we all enjoy the strangely satisfying festive-pie-in-the-face of the "occupy" weenies with our yule-tide exchanges of everything they hate, yet can't seem to keep their hands off of? They don't hate capitalism. They just hate the fact that it's not on sale enough. And that their parents won't let them in to eat or re-charge the batteries for their laptops, i-pods Blackberries and smart phones until they shower up.

But, now that I've got my holiday dig in, I'll end by saying have fun everyone, don't drink and drive, get home safe, help control the pet population by getting your pets spade or neutered and just generally be careful and don't get stupid tonight.

Here's the transcript, complete with Kroft performing a complete fawn dive at the Great Leader's feet as he butters the president up with overwrought accolades for questionable or even down-right false "accomplishments."

KROFT: Tell me, what do you consider your major accomplishments? If this is your last speech. What have you accomplished?

PRESIDENT OBAMA: Well, we're not done yet. I've got five more years of stuff to do. But not only saving this country from a great depression. Not only saving the auto industry. But putting in place a system in which we're gonna start lowering health care costs and you're never gonna go bankrupt because you get sick or somebody in your family gets sick. Making sure that we have reformed the financial system, so we never again have taxpayer-funded bailouts, and the system is more stable and secure. Making sure that we've got millions of kids out here who are able to go to college because we've expanded student loans and made college more affordable. Ending Don't Ask, Don't Tell. Decimating al Qaeda, including Bin Laden being taken off the field. Restoring America's respect around the world.

The issue here is not gonna be a list of accomplishments. As you said yourself, Steve, you know, I would put our legislative and foreign policy accomplishments in our first two years against any president -- with the possible exceptions of Johnson, F.D.R., and Lincoln -- just in terms of what we've gotten done in modern history. But, you know, but when it comes to the economy, we've got a lot more work to do. And we're gonna keep on at it.

So he's better than George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt, Andrew Jackson, John Adams, JFK, Harry Truman and Ronald Reagan?

But, after Schwarzenegger’s ideas were “terminated” by the voters at a 2005 special election, he moved so far to the Left he was indistinguishable from the man he replaced. Now, people are horrified that he’s been replaced by Jerry Brown. Well, at this point: what’s the difference?

Hezbollah Claims to Release Names of CIA Officers in Lebanon

Escalating its confrontation with the CIA, the militant organization Hezbollah released what it said were the names of agency officers working in Lebanon in a television broadcast that aired there last week.

The exposure creates new security risks for CIA officers in a country where American espionage operations had already been damaged by Hezbollah’s capture of a group of agency-paid informants.
The names of the purported CIA members were broadcast Friday on the Lebanese television station al-Manar as part of a report that claimed to expose the agency’s spying efforts as well as its collaboration with Israel.

CIA spokeswoman Jennifer Youngblood said the agency “does not, as a rule, address spurious claims from terrorist groups. I think it’s worth remembering that Hezbollah is a dangerous organization, with al-Manar as its propaganda arm. That fact alone should cast some doubt on the credibility of the group’s claims.”

Youngblood declined to comment on whether the report was accurate or whether the agency had or would remove officers from a country that has long been an espionage crossroads in the Middle East.
Former CIA officials indicated that at least one of the names mentioned — that of the station chief in Beirut — appeared to be accurate. The move by Hezbollah was designed to intimidate would-be spies, they said.
“They want to dissuade people from spying in the future, show the world that they’re a very capable organization,” said a former senior CIA official. “They also want to embarrass the agency as much as possible.”

Last month, U.S. officials acknowledged that a group of informants on the CIA payroll had been identified and detained by Hezbollah. The organization apparently used software analysis of cellphone records and calling patterns to track the communications of suspected spies.
The names included in the al-Manar report are not being published by The Washington Post.
In the past year, the CIA has recalled two of its chiefs in Islamabad, Pakistan, after their names were exposed in the country’s press.

Apparently, pedophilia is an entrenched part of Hollywood culture — but you wouldn’t know that if you only consulted The New York Times for news. Check out this Fox News account of just some of the muck that underlies Hollywood’s glamorous gilding:
If a spate of recent allegations proves true, Hollywood may have a hideous epidemic on its hands. The past two weeks have brought three separate reports of alleged child sexual abuse in the entertainment industry.

Martin Weiss, a 47-year-old Hollywood manager who represented child actors, was charged in Los Angeles on Dec. 1 with sexually abusing a former client. His accuser, who was under 12 years old during the time of the alleged abuse, reported to authorities that Weiss told him “what they were doing was common practice in the entertainment industry.” Weiss has pleaded not guilty.
On Nov. 21, Fernando Rivas, 59, an award-winning composer for “Sesame Street,” was arraigned on charges of coercing a child “to engage in sexually explicit conduct” in South Carolina. The Juilliard-trained composer was also charged with production and distribution of child pornography.

Registered sex offender Jason James Murphy, 35, worked as a casting agent in Hollywood for years before his past kidnapping and sexual abuse of a boy was revealed by the Los Angeles Times on Nov. 17. Murphy’s credits include placing young actors in kid-friendly fare like “Bad News Bears,” “The School of Rock,” “Cheaper by the Dozen 2” and the forthcoming “Three Stooges.”

What’s worse: Former child stars like Corey Feldman (“Lost Boys”) and Alison Arngrim (“Little House on the Prairie”) have said these three isolated, independent charges of child abuse are indicative of a much broader problem. Their quotes are chilling:
Corey Feldman [made] eye-opening remarks in August to ABC’s “Primetime Nightline” that “the No. 1 problem in Hollywood was and is and always will be pedophilia. That’s the biggest problem for children in this industry … It’s the big secret.”

Alison Arngrim, the veteran Hollywood actress best known for her role decades ago as Nellie on “Little House on the Prairie,” has said, “This (the abuse of children) has been going on for a very long time.
“If a child actor is being sexually abused by someone on the show, is the family, agents or managers – the people who are getting money out of this – going to say, ‘OK, let’s press charges’? No, because it’s going to bring the whole show to a grinding halt, and stop all the checks,” says Arngrim. “So, the pressure is there not to say anything.”
This might, perhaps, explain why, occasionally, a movie will come out of Hollywood that seems to seek to normalize adult-child sexual relationships — movies like 2008′s “The Reader” or 2004′s “Birth.” To some in Hollywood, child exploitation evidently is normal.

Yet, according to NewsBusters, New York Times reporters and editors can’t be bothered to shine light on this dark trend. They did, however, find space on page A6 of Friday’s edition to report an unconfirmed claim that a Catholic archbishop in Ireland — who died in 1973 — was posthumously accused of child abuse.

Note: I am not saying the NYT shouldn’t have reported the claim against the archbishop. I am saying the paper — and, indeed, the many Hollywood activists who can’t keep their mouths shut about other, less-pressing issues — should make an effort to disrupt a disturbing trend in the entertainment world by doing what a newspaper is supposed to do. In other words, I’m saying NYT reporters should report the news.

P.S. Paging Lady Gaga … Wouldn’t this kind of child molestation qualify as bullying in a big way?

Update (Ed): I’m in full agreement with Tina in this post, but I do want to offer a qualified defense of The Reader. First, the relationship in the film was not pedophilic; the teenager was 16, not a pre-adolescent, and that’s the age of consent in at least several US states. More to the point, however, is the fact that the film intentionally shows the damage that the relationship causes the teenager throughout his life. It’s an allegory for the relationship between the German generation of the Nazi era and the generation that followed. The entire point of the relationship in the film was that the Nazi generation “molested” and twisted the succeeding generation, which had to endure the guilt and shame of that association. That point could have been driven home with less nudity and sexual content, but it’s also worth pointing out that the actor in this case was 18 years of age at the time those scenes were shot.

I have more issues with American Beauty on this score than The Reader.

Update II: I’ve gotten a few e-mails that say the character was 15, not 16, but he’s 15 at the beginning — before he spends several months in bed with scarlet fever, and before the relationship starts with the older woman. In any case, the relationship is clearly shown as damaging and manipulative, not as a good thing for the boy.

So, what's been happening during my on-again, off-again status? I'm making a big change in my life recently, so I haven't been posting as much as I would wish. On the other hand things have just, well put quite simply, bored me recently in the political world. Yeah, there has been a lot going on, but it's been all the same. The divisiveness that I used to find entertaining and a fuel for posts has just turned sour. It's the same old thing day after day. The MSM bias, the hatred, not just disagreement, but hatred of conservatives (based on those MSM lies and bias) is just old and tiring.

I guess there may not be anything to interest me until a juicy scandal comes along (other than Solyndra, Fast and Furious and other Obama administration tidbits that the media still refuses to report, or at least the whole truth about, other than an introductory 10-second sound-bite) or the 2012 general election.

But as for today, the same ol' same ol:

Uygur, then thinking anybody actually cares what he thinks (hence his career "advancement") said that "[The media] don’t know the difference between neutrality and objectivity. I think objectivity is a good thing to try for even if you don’t reach it. I think that’s a minor problem. A much bigger problem is neutrality."

Why is it when these forgotten libs go on or get a show of their own that even less people watch than their former gig, they get even louder and more proud of their ignorance?

PBS' resident bar stool (or more like pylon) Mark Shields actually thinks Obama, even if he faces Newt Gingrich in the 2012 general election and with the way the economy is going (and what Obama did to make it much, much worse) the current president would win in a landslide.

A landslide? Really? Let's see...

Bush 41 had just routed Iraqi forces out of Kuwait in a major victory and even that couldn't help him win a second term because the economy was bad.

Jimmy Carter couldn't get a second term because of his malfeasance with the economy, even though we was (allegedly) loved by everyone. Sound familiar? He was then resoundingly routed by Ronald Regan.

Bill Clinton had an affair with an intern, lied to his family, America and the world, yet he managed America through a very good economy. Guess what? A second term for Slick Willy.

Bush, jr. had the whole world hating him (or so liberals will tell you) but had a decent economy at the end of his first term. The result, a second term against an ineffectual John Kerry.

But yet Shields seems to think that all that "Yes We Can" crap is still enough to help his friutless leader hold on to the presidency through 2016.

As expected the MSM have their "go to" moment as police at the University of California-Davis pepper-sprayed "Occupy" Flea-Baggers that refused to dispurse and although some were unfairly sprqayed as they were seated, the national media has come to the rescue in an attempt to save the "movement" with a last-ditch effort to portray the extremists (something the media loved to call the Tea Patry, but not one "occupyer," not even the alleged murderer, rapists, thieves, anti-Semitics and drug addicts) as "peaceful demonstrators."

The following article by Brent Bozell sums it up well (emphasis mine)

After the national media spent the month of October chronicling the “historic” Occupy Wall Street protesters in what Diane Sawyer bizarrely blurted out was “more than 1,000 countries,” the myth began to melt. Democratic mayors (and even liberal New York mayor Michael Bloomberg) tired of the nonsense and decided to clear the dirty encampments. After having spilled barrels of supportive ink, The Washington Post wondered on the front page if it was an “occupation or an infestation.”

The Occupying Rabble needed a boost, and got it with the story of campus police pepper-spraying protesters at the University of California-Davis. It was a remarkable jump-start for every left-wing journalist looking to regain his mojo for championing the protesters against “The Man” – in this case, a spineless liberal female administrator and Democrat donor named Linda Katehi.

Americans awoke Monday morning to all three TV networks spreading the latest viral video of the OWS publicity team showing police pepper-spraying seated student protesters in the face. Leftist students in Davis had linked arms and refused to move despite repeated warnings from campus police to clear out. They were determined to encourage police action. Protests are designed to gain publicity. Publicity demands conflict. Publicity demands egging on the police to engage the disobedient.

They needed to be victimized by police “brutality.” They wanted desperately to be pepper-sprayed. They needed to regain the narrative.
The liberal media delivered. As the coverage piled up, the campus cops with the spray and their chief were placed on administrative leave. Still, the campus erupted in demands that chancellor Katehi resign, even as she denounced the police’s actions as horrible. If anyone spoke up against the protesters, you’d never know it. The media were silent on that front.

In an exclusive interview, ABC’s George Stephanopoulos repeatedly pushed Katehi to step down. "You have resisted calls so far to resign. Are you going to stay?...Nearly 50,000 people have signed a petition calling for you to go. Haven't you lost the confidence of the faculty and the students?" Stephanopoulos openly advocated for the protesters, lobbying, "I'm sorry, but we're looking at the video again right now. They're sitting there peacefully. It doesn't appear to be a violent situation."

"Peaceful.” That’s what they called them. What if a protesting block of humanity were to appear in front of an abortion clinic? Would that be “peaceful”? You know the truth. The media would report that as a violation of the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act. “Physical obstruction,” even if it’s “peaceful,” is illegal in that location. Put it on a campus, have it organized by leftist anarchists, and it’s somehow a socialist Shangri-La.

What’s remarkable in all this Occupy media mythology is the way these same networks have shamelessly ignored murders, rapes, and mysterious dead bodies in those tents at Occupy protests around the country. They’ll make a national story out of a row of protesters being pepper-sprayed on one California campus, but ignore rapes, beatings, and deaths in other American cities.

This proves again that our TV news stars are not journalists. They are publicists. They don’t report “news.” They supply badly disguised advertising campaigns for the causes they endorse.
The networks aired a remarkable 81 stories on the Occupiers in October, and their soundbite count was overwhelmingly tilted to the positive: 190 positive soundbites, ten critical ones. Amazingly, the networks couldn’t even place them on the political Left. There was only one liberal label in 81 stories. Their intellectual leader, a Canadian radical named Kalle Lasn, now oozes in The New Yorker about “killing capitalism.” But somehow, the protesters are just conscientious nonpartisans advocating for the lower classes.

The Sacramento Bee reported that Katehi wanted to do nothing as she prepared for renewed protests in the wake of the arrest of 53 Davis students at a 2009 sit-in against state fee increases at the college administration building. “They want to be arrested. They want to be on CNN," she said at the time. "We don't want to get there. We would like to keep it as low-key as possible, allow the students to express their concerns and then hopefully go home."

These law-shredding publicity schemes wouldn’t work for the Left – except CNN and the other networks keep them alive with endless publicity. Riding the Occupy class-war bandwagon – complete with shameless omissions of almost everything negative that’s emerged from those fever swamps – is their campaign kick-off for Barack Obama 2012.

He also attempted to say that only "right-wing historians" (a historian something Matthews is most definitely not) would say bad or "misleading" things about the historical hero of the left, John F. Kennedy. That right there epitomizes liberal-think. There are no actual educated, accredited historians. There are "right wing" and "left-wing" historians. Thus, Matthews inadvertently admitted the left has their own history. Is it any wonder they never get things corrrect? Even if it happened just a day, a month or a week ago. As a side note, it's interesting that the biggest hero the left can lean on (since Kennedy is their default Democrat that inspired them) is found to have only existed in history a mere 45 years ago. You notice the left never appreciates or quotes any of the founding fathers (other than to misquote them when trying to discredit them or shred the constitution when ever it's convenient).

This is typical of the left when they can't deal with the simple facts of history or with their own hypocrisy. You've seen it with Howard Dean, Nancy Pelosi, John Kerry, Rosie O'Donnell, Joy Behar, Sean Penn, Janine Garafolo, Micheal Moore, Ed Schultz, Bill Maher and so on. and you know who else. Relaxed Standards for OWS Violence

If you want to destroy someone's property, simply organize a left-wing political rally. Then you can bring your rocks and rebar and smash away without serious consequences.
It appears that the official attitude towards violence and vandalism depends on who is doing it and why.

The recent "Occupy" protest at the Port of Oakland in Oakland, CA drew, by some media accounts, approximately 4,000 protesters. While generally described as a peaceful demonstration, the protests left a residue of violence and vandalism. Protest "organizers" were quick to decry the violence and deny that the violence had anything to do with their movement. But it was, in fact, there. Violence or vandalism has shown itself in numerous OWS-inspired protests throughout the country.

The subject of this posting is not to analyze in detail the number or nature of the occurrences, nor to attempt to connect violence to the declared focus of the movement in general. I will accept at face value the conclusions by many in the movement and the media that the less civil among those involved are not, in fact, protesters, but are actually just agitators and people who want to act up, and they are using this venue to do so. One media account said that the people involved in the Oakland vandalism just wanted to "blow off some steam."

As has been widely stated before, though, this didn't happen at the "Tea Party" demonstrations. The MSM tried hard to ignore, diminish, and/or demonize the Tea Party movement, which didn't work. Angry citizens showed up at town hall meetings with congressmen to protest government behavior, and the MSM portrayed those law-abiding citizens as somehow less than civil, and even displaying less than proper behavior. You can bet your kids' college savings that any real violence would have been reported with considerable fanfare. Now they want to equate the OWS movement to the Tea Party -- thus giving it the same legitimacy. It is sufficient to say that there have been a number of articles on this site that have successfully ridiculed that assertion, and another one is not necessary.

It is interesting to note, however, that these poor kids who needed to "blow off steam" did not show up at Tea Party rallies. Why would that be?

The answer to that, although I have not heard anyone ask the question, is obvious: the Tea Party represents lawful, America-respecting individuals, while the OWS protests are intent on tearing down the system. The violence-prone kids know that also. No one told them -- they just instinctively knew it. What better place to "blow off steam" than a rally of selfish, somewhat lawless malcontents as opposed to a rally of law-abiding, hardworking stalwarts of the American way?

But there is something else they know as well: the manner in which violence and vandalism is handled by local authorities in general. If the violent participants at the Occupy Oakland Port had just shown up without a complicit political rally, they would have been treated like criminals and tossed in jail immediately, charged with destruction of private property and other crimes. Instead, they are given relaxed standards because they are entitled to "free speech."

That's the lesson here. And don't worry -- if the police should happen to give you any grief, they will probably let you off with a minor scolding. And if that is still not enough, you should be able to get the ACLU to defend you.

Iraq is Now Lost, and It's Obama's Fault

Barack Obama was a principled opponent of the Iraq War from its beginning. But when he became president in January 2009, he was handed a war that was won. The surge had succeeded. Al-Qaida in Iraq had been routed, driven to humiliating defeat by an Anbar Awakening of Sunnis fighting side-by-side with the infidel Americans. Even more remarkably, the Shiite militias had been taken down, with American backing, by the forces of Shiite Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki. They crushed the Sadr militias from Basra to Sadr City.

Al-Qaida decimated. A Shiite prime minister taking a decisively nationalist line. Iraqi Sunnis ready to integrate into a new national government. U.S. casualties at their lowest ebb in the entire war. Elections approaching. Obama was left with but a single task: Negotiate a new status-of-forces agreement (SOFA) to reinforce these gains and create a strategic partnership with the Arab world's only democracy.

He blew it. Negotiations, such as they were, collapsed last month. There is no agreement, no partnership. As of Dec. 31, the American military presence in Iraq will end.
And it's not as if that deadline snuck up on Obama. He had three years to prepare for it. Everyone involved, Iraqi and American, knew that the 2008 SOFA calling for full U.S. withdrawal was meant to be renegotiated. And all major parties but one (the Sadr faction) had an interest in some residual stabilizing U.S. force.

Three years, two abject failures. The first was the administration's inability, at the height of American post-surge power, to broker a centrist nationalist coalition governed by the major blocs - one predominantly Shiite (Maliki's), one predominantly Sunni (Ayad Allawi's), one Kurdish - that among them won a large majority (69 percent) of seats in the 2010 election.
Vice President Joe Biden was given the job. He failed utterly. The government ended up effectively being run by a narrow sectarian coalition where the balance of power is held by the relatively small (12 percent) Iranian-client Sadr faction.

The second failure was the SOFA itself. The military recommended nearly 20,000 troops, considerably fewer than our 28,500 in Korea, 40,000 in Japan and 54,000 in Germany. The president rejected those proposals, choosing instead 3,000 to 5,000 troops.

The Obama proposal was an unmistakable signal of unseriousness. It became clear that he simply wanted out, leaving any Iraqi foolish enough to maintain a pro-American orientation exposed to Iranian influence. Message received. Just this past week, Massoud Barzani, leader of the Kurds - for two decades the staunchest of U.S. allies - visited Tehran to bend a knee to President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

It didn't have to be this way. Our friends did not have to be left out in the cold to seek Iranian protection. Three years and a won war had given Obama the opportunity to establish a lasting strategic alliance with the Arab world's second most important power. He failed, though he didn't try very hard. The excuse is Iraqi refusal to grant legal immunity to U.S. forces. But the Bush administration encountered the same problem, and overcame it. Obama had little desire to. Indeed, he portrays the evacuation as the fulfillment of a campaign promise.

But surely the obligation to defend the security and the interests of the nation supersede personal vindication. Obama opposed the war, but when he became commander in chief the terrible price had already been paid in blood and treasure. His obligation was to make something of that sacrifice, to secure the strategic gains that sacrifice had already achieved.
He did not. After years of allegedly clumsy brutish force, Obama was to usher in an era of not hard power, not soft power, but smart power.

Which turns out in Iraq to be ... no power. Years from now we will be asking not "Who lost Iraq?" - that already is clear - but "Why?"

By spending the last three decades leveling accusations of "racism" every 10 seconds, liberals have made it virtually impossible for Americans to recognize real racism -- for example, the racism constantly spewed at black conservatives.

In the last year alone, a short list of the things liberals have labeled "racist" include:

-- Being a Republican;
-- Joining the tea party;
-- The word "the" (Donald Trump's statement that he has a "great relationship with the blacks");
-- References to Barack Obama's playing basketball (Trump again);
-- Using Obama's middle name;
-- Scott Brown's pickup truck;
-- Opposing Obamacare;
-- Opposing Obama's stimulus bill;
-- Opposing Obama's jobs bill.

The surge in conservative support for Herman Cain confuses the Democrats' story line, which is that Republicans hate Obama because he's black.

Cain is twice as black as Obama. (Possible Obama campaign slogan: "Too Black!")

This is why the liberal website Politico ran with a story on Cain that had everything -- a powerful black man, a Republican presidential candidate, the hint of sexuality -- except facts.

All we learned was: About a decade ago, as many as two anonymous women accused Cain of making unspecified "inappropriate" remarks and one "inappropriate" gesture in the workplace. (We had more than that on John Edwards' mistress a year into the media's refusal to report that story.)

If the details helped liberals, we'd have the details.

To have been accused of sexual harassment in the 1990s is like having been accused of molesting children at preschools in the 1980s or accused of being a witch in Massachusetts in the 1690s.
In the 1990s, one plaintiff won a $50 million jury verdict against Wal-Mart on the grounds that a "hostile environment" was created by her supervisor's yelling at both male and female employees. In another case, a plaintiff won a $250,000 award for sexual harassment based on her complaint that a male colleague had reached for a pastry saying, "Nothing I like more in the morning than sticky buns," while "wriggl(ing)" his eyebrows.

It got so crazy that a 6-year-old boy was suspended from class for a day for kissing a classmate on the cheek, and a Goya painting had to be removed from a Penn State classroom because a professor complained that it constituted sexual harassment.

With no standard other than the subjective offense taken by the accuser, absolutely anyone could be called a witch, i.e., a sexual harasser. So it's striking that the only two conservative public figures accused of being witches both happened to be conservative blacks: Clarence Thomas and Herman Cain.

Liberals go straight to ugly racist stereotypes when attacking conservative blacks, calling them oversexualized, stupid and/or incompetent.

The late, lamented, white liberal reporter Mary McGrory called Justice Antonin Scalia "a brilliant and compelling extremist" -- while dismissing Thomas as "Scalia's puppet."

More recently, Democratic Sen. Harry Reid called Scalia "one smart guy." In the next breath, he proclaimed Thomas "an embarrassment to the Supreme Court," adding, "I think that his opinions are poorly written."

When Bush made Condoleezza Rice the first black female secretary of state, terror swept through the Democratic Party. What if people began to notice and ask questions: "Who's that black woman always standing with George Bush?" Never mind! He's probably arresting her.

In addition to an explosion of racist cartoons portraying Rice as Aunt Jemima, Butterfly McQueen from "Gone With the Wind," a fat-lipped Bush parrot and other racist cliches, allegedly respectable liberals promptly called her stupid and incompetent.

Joseph Cirincione, then with the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, said Rice "doesn't bring much experience or knowledge of the world to this position." (Unlike Hillary Clinton, whose experience for the job consisted of being married to an impeached, disbarred former president.)
Democratic consultant Bob Beckel -- who ran Walter Mondale's 1984 campaign so competently that Mondale lost 49 states -- said of Rice, "I don't think she's up to the job."

When Michael Steele ran for senator in Maryland in 2006, the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee dug up a copy of his credit report -- something done to no other Republican candidate. He was depicted in black face with huge red lips by liberal blogger Steve Gilliard. Oreo cookies were rolled down the aisle at Steele during a gubernatorial debate in 2002.

Trafficking in racist imagery is consequence-free for liberals because they have ruined charges of "racism" with their own overuse of the term. By now, any accusation of racism has the feel of a Big Foot sighting.

It's a neat trick, rather as if the Nazis had called everything "genocide" right before launching the Holocaust, and then admonished resisters not to "play the genocide card."

Liberals step on black conservatives early and often because they can't have black children thinking, "Hmmm, the Republicans have some good ideas; maybe I'm a Republican."

The basic setup is:

Step 1: Spend 30 years telling blacks that Republicans are racist and viciously attacking all black Republicans.

Step 2: Laugh maliciously at Republicans for not having more blacks in their party.

It is beyond insane that Herman Cain would have considered running for president if he had the tiniest skeleton in his closet. To be an out-of-the-closet black Republican, you had better be a combination rocket scientist/Baptist preacher. Which, as it happens, Cain is.

Meanwhile, MSNBC is cutting into its prime-time programming to announce updates in the fact-free hit on Cain. That's not because anyone there thinks he'll be the nominee. Everyone knows it's going to be Mitt Romney.

But liberals are determined to make sure that, six months from now, everyone has forgotten Herman Cain so they can go back to claiming Republicans oppose Obama because they hate blacks.

With her bound to be the left-wing media's darling for the foreseeable future, Sharon Bialek, one of four Herman Cain accusers of "inappropriate conduct," has come forward to tell of her accusations at a press conference at the New York City Friar's Club.

The media finally has a face and a name to go along with their Cain hate-fest. They finally have someone with whom they can inhale every comment with unadulterated fascination and admiration.

I don't know if Cain is guilty or not and I really don't care. But you can bet if this woman had even the slightest bit of allegations against President Obama over something he may or may not have done 20 years ago (when you know, he was snorting cocaine) the MSM would have surely destroyed her by now. Again, what amazes me is the deft of the MSM and the whole-hearted hypocrisy and bias they are showing now towards Cain, a Republican as opposed to Bill Clinton, a Democrat when he was staining the dress of intern Monica Lewinsky. Or even the questionable and inappropriate associations of liberal president Barack Obama with criminal Tony Rezco, racist paster Jeremiah Wright or domestic terrorist William Ayers.

It's not a matter of Cain's innocence or guilt, it's all about the red meat of Republican scandals the liberal media feasts on with no regard for the facts before they are revealed. It always has been.

If Cain is guilty, he should appologize to the American people (not to mention his "victims") and drop out of the GOP primaries. If not, he should rain fire and brimstone down on the MSM for their lurid and biased "reporting."

A young woman died in her tent at the Vancouver, BC "Occupy movement" on Saturday, apparently from an overdose.

Not to be ghoulish because this is a tragedy, but from reports of people wanting other people's money (or at least for those people to pay their tutition and bills) theft, rape and now death at these "Occupy" sites, do they really still hold the same zeal for Americans or the media? Is the MSM really still enthralled with these people? Are they still better organized and to be taken more seriously than the Tea Party? Will the Occupiers get a caucus in Congress?
