He's Not Jimmy Carter

I myself have said that if John McCain was the third term of George W. Bush (as Obama, Biden the whole Democrat Party and the media routinely said) then Barack Obama is the second term of Jimmy Carter. And even though like Carter, I believe Obama is doomed to be a one-termer (yes, even after only eight months) and he has screwed up America (and plans even more damage) probably more than Smiling Jimmy could ever dream of, I may have spoken a little too soon on the outright comparisons.

The American Spectator's Quin Hillyer kind of set me straight. Obama, is in fact, much, much scarier.

BONUS: I had to post this comment from someone with the screenname of, "Grzmlyk." It is awesome!

And of course Bob will wag his finger and say, so what? GDP will be up, up, up (eventually!) and effective tax rates will remain consistent with their historic averages! So nothing will have changed in America. As long as spending is accounted for, what difference does it make if we live in a totalitarian dictatorship or the land of the free? Who cares? Yes, Bob, we're all impressed by your pristine lack of ideological blinders. Give yourself a gold star for today.

For those of us with eyes, however, the transformation of America into a third-world banana republic continues apace. This article depressed me further about the prospects for America's future, if that is possible. And yet it’s even worse than that.

For one, Etiquette Man makes an excellent point. Marquis of Queensbury rules will not cut the mustard. Because the playing field is tilted further against us even than this article postulates.
One additional factor is the fact that our public education system has produced far more mindless "pod people" through its indoctrination than it had produced during the Carter years, when the liberal stranglehold on our schools was still just coalescing. The utter transformation of our education system - from kindergarten through your average PhD program - into a liberal propaganda conveyor belt has created a disturbingly large swath of citizens that could be termed "The Manchurian Electorate."

But instead of becoming catatonic putty in the hands of their puppet masters whenever they hear the phrase, "why don't you pass the time by playing a little solitaire," today's Manchurian Electorate becomes malleable, mindless tools of malfeasance whenever they hear the words "tolerance," "diversity," "social justice," "racism," "green" "right wing" and select other heavily weighted code words.

Just give them the word, and these people will happily kill freedom and prosperity just as cheerfully as Raymond killed his fellow soldiers - unburdened by any sentient awareness of their actions and therefore without moral compunction whatsoever.
For these dangerous automatons, what's happening in this country is simply an afternoon tea party at the local ladies' club, slightly marred by the "whack jobs" outside whining about taxes and death panels. Like Bob and Liberal Reader, these fools do not recognize the brutal infiltration into - and destruction of - a system that had been a beacon to the world for over two hundred years.

In addition, while the mainstream media was monolithically liberal back in the Carter era, they have become downright rabid today. They have abandoned any pretense of objectivity and climbed aboard the Obama Tyranny Express, which is hurtling around dangerous curves with a maniacal engineer at the helm and no brakeman anywhere in sight. Indeed, this railroad has no regard whatsoever for the fate of its passengers; it’s the rush of holding all that power that matters.

The Internet? Please. One need only do a google search on any conservative issue and check the "hits" to see that the bulk of political content produced in the cyber world favors the liberal point of view over the conservative one by a factor of about five.
While I do think, beneath the hopey changey, "I care" mask, that Obama is such an odious, callous, ruthless, ambitious and vengeful personality that the People's affection for him will eventually wane (and I am not impressed by his oratorical skills one iota, although they do benefit greatly by a comparison with Bush's), I think that even those “good liberals” who aren't True Believers Till the End in the Bunker would never be so gauche, so unseemly, as to admit publicly that they don't, you know, care for him.

He is black, after all. You can’t dislike black people in positions of power. Because you know that that makes YOU.

And that whole dynamic is something Hillyer didn't touch on at all. Will anyone ever admit that Obama is making use of the cynical ghetto tactic of racial intimidation? Just as our cities are chock-full of bourgeois whites cowed by blatantly aggressive behavior in their midst by malevolent blacks lest they be labeled “bigots,” his race inoculates Obama – and, by association his fellow thugs of every ethnicity - from criticism.

As a result, he and his merry band of felons and miscreants can plunder, pillage, loot and vandalize this country in broad daylight and simply stare down any meek citizens who might have the temerity – dare I say the “audacity” - to object to this institutional rape, this blatant “democricide,” with the threat of a charge of "racism." Obama's color is kryptonite and he knows it. Post racial? Hardy har har. Obama has proven Archimedes right: But instead of employing a lever long enough such that it could move the very earth, all Obama needed was pervasive white guilt.

Add these conditions to those that Quinn Hillyer articulates above, and the future for our republic is even bleaker than he imagines. And that’s why I’m already preparing for my extended stay at my local “reeducation camp,” where, I’m told, “service” will set me free.

See you in the gulag, comrades.
