Blagojevich Impeached

Shocking, huh? In a move that has surprised no one, the Illinois State Senate has impeached, with immediate removal from office, Rod Blagojevich in a 59-0 vote. Yeah, was there any doubt they wanted this guy out? I'm sure there were some tried and true Democrats that were hoping to find like minds and save Blagojevich from this fate, but doing so would have meant political suicide for their own careers, I'm sure. Pat Quinn, Illinois lieutenant-governor, has taken over the governing duties in the interim.

Illinois's House of Representatives also voted to impeach, with one lone dissenter.
