Are They Finally Starting to Get It?

Are the network news agencies finally, FINALLY starting to realize that all this talk of a withdrawal and/or redeployment from Iraq until stability and the fledgling government can uphold itself will indeed embolden the enemy? Well that's what war correspondent Michael Ware, who's been in Baghdad since 2003 says. If the U.S. should pull out, all hell would break loose and the vacuum that would be created would make the violence we've seen in the past look like a church picnic.

And maybe that's why ABC News' numbers are up and NBC and especially CBS' are way down. Charles Gibson and company seem to be breaking out of that "only report bad news" doctrine and telling us exactly what is going on: it's certaintly not the beginning of absolute victory, but it's a good start and perhaps the news programs (at least ABC) are starting to figure out that America may have had enough of the Vietnam syndrome of "it's all over" without exploring the distinct possibility that given time, the "surge" could produce positive results.

Kind of leads me to wonder what would happen if Congress had stuck with the President from day one instead of trying (successfully) to demonize him and the troops. Or, better yet, if the Republicans would have stuck to their conservative principles that go them there and won Nov. 7.

Amen! Had the republicans stuck to conservative principles and dems stuck with the military at war. What a difference that would make! Even for 24 hours.
