50th Anniversary of First Manned Space Flight
Fifty years ago today, Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin, the first human in space, launched in his capsule, the Vostok 1 from Baikonur Cosmodrome Site No.1 in Moscow in 1961 at 9:07 a.m. He took one orbit around the Earth that lasted 108 minutes before safely parachuting from seven kilometers up.
