Helen Thomas Dead at 92

Helen Thomas, the controversial, unabashed pioneering female journalist and mainstay of the center seat in the White House Press Corps, has died at the age of 92.

Clearly I was not a fan of Thomas.  Ever.  Her defence of terrorist factions, political despots and her seemingly anti-Semitic opinions never seemed to agree with me and moreover, 99 percent of the time frustrated and enraged me.  Her moral equivalence of democratic-elected leaders in the West to dictators in the Middle East and Asia was mind-boggling to say the least.

But for all the Diane Sawyers, Barbara Walters and Katie Courics out there, it would be insane and downright misleading to say she wasn't a trailblazer for female journalists today.
